Europe Responds with GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation
The new General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 ("GDPR" or the "Regulation") is about protecting people and their privacy. Replacing Directive 95/46/EC (aka EU Data Privacy) seven distinct principles now apply to all citizens under the European Convention; however, it is equally relevant to any US or other foreign national who wishes to do business with most of Europe and Australia. (Yes, this is pre-Brexit, but it's all still true. For the UK, read the UK Cyber Essential in Brief).

FIPS PUB 199 is an impact assessment model used by DFARS 252.204-7012, as mentioned in NIST 171 DFARS and CMMC.
Here is the entire FIPS PUB 199
Required by Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA) all subcontractors and prime contract agencies working with the Federal Government must complete a FIPS PUB 199 assessment, designed to recognize “the importance of information security to the economic and national security interests of the United States.”

I'm going to save a lot of my emails today. I'm sad that we won't get an essay from Eric Boehlert who's untimely death has us all just unable to process.
Perhaps my favorite communications will be from The Root, opening with "Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed as the first Black woman to become a Supreme Court Justice this afternoon in a historic 53-47 vote in the U.S. Senate. Her confirmation followed a weeks-long process in which she was vilified with derogatory and racist attacks on her judicial record, but which also revealed deep hopefulness among generations of Black women attorneys who have faced glass ceilings in their profession.

"Failing to Fail
It is some time after the time in which the normal business day, in those long lost, almost forgotten days of pre-COVID, would otherwise end.
At least as I vaguely recall, anyway.
My hair is … well, in truth, it is both a total and ridiculous mess, and also rather comfortable. It has been quite a while since I had curls.
I didn’t think I could even grow them anymore. Age brings all sorts of things, like wisdom and patience and perspective, but it sure as heck doesn’t bring hair.
Now I’m sporting a Jewfro."
I post these words written by a wonderful friend, Barak Engel.
